Dr. Janice Neill Dean, Principal of Matty Akin Elementary School was selected as 2000-2001 Mississippi Administrator of the Year.

Dr. Dean received her Ed. D. Degree from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS in 1989 with an emphasis in Curriculum and Supervision.

She is an administrator and trainer for the Mississippi Writing/Thinking Institute of Mississippi State. She is also Greenville Public Schools Adopt-A-School Coordinator. Dr. Dean is an Adjunct Professor in Educational Research at Delta State University.

Dr. Dean's professional activities include Whole Schools Institute, Technology Academy for School Leaders, and Millsaps Principal's Institute.

Dr. Dean's professional association memberships include Matty Akin Parent-Teacher Association, Mississippi Association of Educators, Mississippi Association of Elementary School Administrators, and Mississippi Association of Partners in Education.
