The construction industry has thousands of high-paying and exciting career opportunities.
In fact, over 240,000 jobs are needing to be filled every year for the foreseeable
future.
You can start training for one of these high-paying careers now - while you are still in high school.
Enroll in the Mississippi Construction Education Foundation School to Work program
at your high school and be part of a course of study which brings together academics,
on-the-job learning and paid work experience all prior to high school
graduation.
To qualify a student must:
Be 16 years old

Have parental consent to work
|
Maintain an overall "C" average
|
Pass the Wheels of Learning Core (Safety, Hand
Tools, Power Tools, Math, Blueprint Reading, and Basic Rigging)
|
Have a good attendance record
|
Pass a drug screen
|
Have a desire to work
|

ProStart School-to-Career Program
Developed by The Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association,
this unique program give students the work experience and classroom learning
they need to succeed in restaurant and foodservice.
The restaurant and foodservice industry is this country's fastest growing. Currently 9 million
workers strong, the industry is expected to employ 10.8 million workers by 2005,
and many of these jobs will be high-paying management positions.
The ProStart program takes advantage of these opportunities, helping high school sophomores,
juniors and seniors take their first steps toward promising restaurant and foodservice
careers. Work experiences with specially trained worksite mentors are combined
with a practical curriculum that imparts real-world skills and foodservice concepts.
